The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Security Installation Specialist to support sophisticated commercial security projects throughout the Greater Boston area.

This is a hands-on opportunity for a security professional who enjoys working with advanced integrated systems and taking projects from installation and programming through start-up, commissioning, testing, and customer acceptance.

You'll work with IP video/CCTV, access control, intrusion and alarm systems, software platforms, and networked security technologies across new construction and retrofit projects in environments such as hospitals, universities, data centers, and industrial facilities.

As a Senior Specialist, you'll also have the opportunity to share your expertise, provide on-the-job guidance to less experienced technicians, and play an important role in delivering successful projects for customers.

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position offering a strong overall compensation opportunity, along with a company vehicle and comprehensive benefits.

What You'll Do

  • Install, program, start up, and commission integrated electronic security systems, including access control, IP video/CCTV, intrusion and alarm systems, and associated software platforms.

  • Take ownership of system start-up and commissioning, verifying that equipment, programming, communications, and system functionality meet project requirements.

  • Troubleshoot complex system issues involving hardware, software, field devices, communications, and basic networking.

  • Perform system testing and verification, participate in final inspections, and support successful customer acceptance.

  • Work from construction drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure systems are installed and operating as designed.

  • Identify installation, code, and system-performance issues and recommend practical solutions to keep projects moving forward.

  • Work directly with customers and project teams, communicating system status, addressing technical questions, and helping ensure a smooth project experience.

  • Support customer training and system turnover, helping customers understand the operation and capabilities of their new security systems.

  • Coordinate with project teams and trade partners during installation, start-up, testing, and commissioning activities.

  • Mentor and support less experienced Security Specialists, sharing technical knowledge and helping develop the capabilities of the field team.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience installing, programming, starting up, and commissioning integrated electronic security systems, including IP video/CCTV, access control, and intrusion/alarm systems.

  • At least 2 years of experience working on commercial building projects, including new construction and/or retrofit environments.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across security system hardware, software, and basic networking.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.

  • Working knowledge of network components and concepts, including IP addressing and subnetting, workstations and servers, IP video transmission, switches, routers, and basic firewall principles.

  • Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with customers, contractors, project managers, and other technical professionals.

  • Willingness and availability to participate in an on-call rotation with other Specialists.

  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of a field-based installation position, including working from ladders and scaffolding, above ceilings, around mechanical equipment, and in varying indoor and outdoor conditions, as well as moving tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license while meeting eligibility requirements for the company fleet vehicle program.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Experience

Additional experience or qualifications in any of the following areas would be valuable:

  • 8+ years of experience installing and/or maintaining large-scale integrated security systems.

  • Massachusetts Class D Electrical License.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Advanced experience reading and working from design and construction documents.

Compensation & Benefits

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position with an annualized pay range of approximately $70,000–$130,000, plus overtime, based on experience and qualifications.

The overall package also includes a company vehicle, 401(k), and comprehensive employee benefits.
