AI Automation Engineer
Build the foundation for AI and automation at Viebke & West
You won’t just build solutions — you’ll shape how we work
Some roles are about improving what already exists.
Others are about defining what comes next.
This is the latter.
At Viebke & West, we are in the middle of a real shift. Over the past year, we have brought multiple trades together under one roof and evolved from a painting company into a broader construction business. That shift has increased the complexity of our projects and made the need for better systems and smarter workflows impossible to ignore.
Now we are building the capability to match it.
We are looking for a Founding AI Automation Engineer to establish how AI and automation support the business — in practice, not theory.
You build where it matters
You will work directly with colleagues across the organization to understand how work gets done today and where it breaks, slows down, or depends on manual effort.
From service operations to larger contracting and refurbishment projects, many of our workflows involve coordination across teams, systems, and external partners. That complexity is where your work begins.
You identify where automation creates real value. Then you design and build solutions that make daily operations faster, clearer, and more reliable.
At the same time, we are preparing for migration to Microsoft Business Central. You will play a central role in ensuring systems, integrations, and workflows are designed properly from the start — not patched together afterwards.
Turn operational complexity into working automation
Your overall responsibility will be to map how work actually flows across the organization, spot where time is lost or coordination breaks down, and turn that insight into AI-driven automation that connects systems, supports the Business Central transition and makes everyday operations run faster, clearer and more reliably.
This means you will:
Map operational workflows across departments and identify friction points
Identify and prioritise automation opportunities with clear business impact
Design and build AI-driven workflow automation solutions
Integrate systems, tools, and ERP platforms through APIs
Support the migration to Microsoft Business Central from a systems perspective
Collaborate with external vendors while building internal capabilities
Ensure automation solutions run reliably in day-to-day operations
Take ownership of internal AI and automation initiatives
You are building something new - not maintaining the old
This is the first dedicated role focused on AI and automation at Viebke & West.
That means you will not step into a predefined setup. You will help define it.
Thus, we believe you to be comfortable creating structure where none exists yet, someone who works independently but naturally involves the business in the right moments.
At the same time, this is not a greenfield lab environment. We already rely on a range of systems, tools, and external vendors. Part of your role is to understand that landscape, improve how systems interact, and gradually move us towards a more integrated and efficient setup.
You will report to the VP of Finance and work closely with colleagues across operations, sales, and management.
You won’t do it alone
While this is a founding role, you will not be expected to solve everything yourself.
You will collaborate with external technology partners and vendors, using their expertise where it makes sense while building internal capability where it matters.
Structured, curious and driven to create practical impact
We believe this is not your first time creating automation through AI, so we believe you bring solid experience in working with automation, applied AI, or internal systems.
Industry background is not decisive. What matters is your ability to translate business needs into practical, working solutions.
In addition to that, we imagine you having:
Experience building automation workflows or internal tools
Strong programming skills in Python or similar languages
Hands-on experience with AI or LLM-based tools
Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases
Solid understanding of API integrations
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
Ability to work independently and take ownership
Danish language skills are an advantage in day-to-day collaboration
