Reporting To:             Group Financial Manager

 

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Financial Manager to oversee the full financial function across multiple entities within a group structure. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, commercial acumen, and the ability to manage complex financial operations across multiple jurisdictions.

The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting, compliance, cashflow management, and driving process improvements, while leading and developing a high-performing finance team.

 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Operations

  • Oversee the full financial function across multiple entities, including accounts payable, inventory, invoicing, banking, reporting, and related operational areas

  • Ensure strong financial controls are implemented, monitored, and maintained

  • Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of transactions across all entities

  • Review reconciliations and financial reports prior to submission

Group Accounting & Technical

  • Lead monthly and year-end group consolidations

  • Assist with the preparation of Annual Financial Statements

  • Oversee VAT submissions across all entities

  • Manage income tax planning and submissions across multiple jurisdictions

  • Ensure compliance with local and international tax regulations

  • Manage intercompany transactions, billbacks, and eliminations

  • Maintain fixed asset registers and ensure audit readiness

  • Oversee instalment sales and financing agreements

  • Manage tax authority audits and queries

  • Coordinate and support the external audit process

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements

Cashflow & Financial Planning

  • Oversee cashflow management and forecasting

  • Monitor working capital and cost drivers

  • Provide financial insights to improve profitability and cash generation

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, manage, and develop the finance team

  • Provide training, guidance, and performance management

  • Drive accountability and performance across the team

Stakeholder Management

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders including senior management, auditors, banks, regulatory bodies, suppliers, and customers

  • Act as a key finance business partner to operational teams

Systems, Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement of financial processes and controls

  • Lead system implementations and automation initiatives

  • Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable solutions

Reporting

  • Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts

  • Analyse financial performance and report on variances

  • Provide accurate and timely reports to senior management

  • Deliver ad hoc reporting and financial analysis as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance (NQF Level 7 or higher)

  • CIMA, CA(SA), or equivalent qualification advantageous

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a management role

  • Experience managing multiple entities within a group structure

  • Strong experience in financial reporting, tax, and consolidations

  • ERP system experience (Syspro advantageous)

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Proven experience managing multiple accounts/books

  • Team leadership and management experience

  • Experience in project management and system implementation advantageous

  • Exposure to multi-country tax environments advantageous

  • Tax practitioner experience or working towards registration advantageous
