

Our client is seeking an experienced Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead investment strategy, capital deployment, and portfolio performance within a leading alternative asset management business. This executive role focuses on driving investment excellence, building a scalable institutional-grade investment platform, and delivering long-term value through strategic capital allocation. Requirements:
10+ years’ experience in private capital investing
Proven transaction leadership and successful exits
Experience across equity and debt instruments
CA(SA), CFA, or equivalent postgraduate qualification
Responsibilities:
Institutionalise investment framework aligned with the company’s long-term strategy.
Develop scalable processes across origination, underwriting, execution, portfolio management and exits.
Establish disciplined Investment Committee governance and decision-making frameworks.
Lead origination and execution across all asset classes.
Drive proprietary deal flow through strong networks and relationships.
Structure complex transactions across equity, mezzanine and private debt instruments.
Drive value creation through growth, operational improvement and M&A.
Optimise capital structures and strengthen management teams.
Monitor performance against investment thesis and return targets.
Engage with institutional investors, family offices and strategic partners.
Contribute to the growth of AUM and development of permanent capital vehicles.
Build and lead a high-performance investment team.
Develop talent across deal execution and portfolio management.
Ensure succession depth and long-term sustainability of the platform.
Uphold governance, integrity and fiduciary standards.
