Sylmar, a purpose-driven leader in the water industry, is recruiting for a Sylmar Water Treatment (SWT) platform President to help us grow our businesses for the long term.

We're on a mission to help solve one of our generation’s most critical challenges: managing water quality and reliability. We believe that our business can be a positive force in the world, for our people and the communities we serve.

At Sylmar, our leaders champion both servant leadership and operational rigor. We focus on empowering our people, communicating with clarity, and holding ourselves accountable for results. We hire the best - team members who are growth-minded, dedicated to our mission, and ready to take on challenges with us.

The President of the Sylmar Water Treatment platform is a visionary leader who thrives in nimble, growing companies. As a results-oriented operator, this role will drive the overall strategy of our portfolio of water treatment companies while leading platform shared services (finance, people, safety) and the integration of new operating companies.

Responsibilities

 Strategic Leadership & Growth: Define and articulate the platform’s vision in alignment with market trends, long-term strategy, and company goals. Develop into the face of the business both internally and externally.

 Operational Oversight: Provide hands-on operational and financial oversight for each water treatment business/region to ensure the ongoing, profitable growth of the platform. Set operational and financial targets for the businesses and hold him/herself as well as leaders accountable for company outcomes. Identify and implement best practices across the platform to improve financial performance, customer and employee satisfaction, and operational efficiencies. Manage the platform’s shared services functions to ensure seamless integration with business operations in line with the Sylmar Business System.

 Mergers and Acquisitions - Participate in cultivation (where appropriate), due diligence activities, offering market expertise, and operational guidance. Collaborate with the Parent Company team to provide successful integration experience for newly acquired businesses.

 Financial Management: In collaboration with the finance team, oversee the consolidated financial performance of the platform. Manage budget decisions to support the growth and profitability of the operating companies, and ensure strong financial controls are in place across the businesses.

 Culture: Foster a high-performance culture based on outcomes, accountability, robust processes, and continuous improvement. Mentor and support the leadership teams of each operating company, empowering the teams to drive results while maintaining alignment with the platform’s strategic, operational, and financial goals and objectives.

 Team: Recruit, develop, and retain top talent at all levels of the platform. Drive Sylmar Water Treatment to become the preferred destination for the best water treaters in the country.

Requirements

 15+ years of deep and progressive experience in the water or related service industry with at least 5 years in an executive leadership role.

 Prior experience in a commercial role, ideally Sales and/or marketing with demonstrated commercial execution, building organizations and engaging with commercially focused leaders and with customers.

 BS Degree in Engineering, Business, or related.

 Process-oriented leader with a proven track record of implementing systems and processes to support the growth and operational excellence of decentralized or portfolio-based businesses.

 Strong financial acumen and experience with P&L management and budgeting in a $250M revenue business.

 Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and tangible results.

 Demonstrated experience as a servant leader, exhibiting a collaborative mindset, trust building ability, and high emotional intelligence.

 Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire diverse teams.

 This is an in-office role, located in the Raleigh Metro area, with the expectation of travel up to 50% to be on site with M&A prospects, operating company employees, customers, and senior leadership.
