Working environment: Managed Services Provider (MSP) — supporting multiple clients

Remuneration: Market-related, commensurate with experience

Driver’s licence: Essential — own reliable transport required

Role Overview

A Gqeberha-based Managed Services Provider is seeking a capable, organised Project Manager to lead infrastructure and technology projects across a portfolio of client environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering projects from initiation through to completion — including network cabling, fibre cabling and IP camera installations — while maintaining clear communication with clients and internal teams.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role that requires a PM who is comfortable on-site and can get involved in the groundwork when needed. A working knowledge of network and structured cabling fundamentals is essential, as the role spans both project oversight and practical fieldwork. The role reports to the Operations Manager and works closely with the technical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and manage infrastructure projects end-to-end, including network cabling, fibre cabling and IP camera (CCTV) installations.

• Coordinate site surveys, resource allocation, procurement and logistics for each project.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle, providing regular progress updates and managing expectations.

• Work on-site and assist with groundwork activities including cable routing, conduit installation, patch panel terminations and camera mounting where required.

• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and internal technicians to ensure timely, quality delivery.

• Maintain accurate project documentation including scopes of work, schedules, risk registers, site survey reports and handover documentation.

• Identify project risks and issues proactively; escalate and resolve as appropriate.

• Ensure all installations comply with relevant standards and client specifications.

• Track project budgets, timelines and resource utilisation; report variances to the Operations Manager.

• Support post-installation testing, sign-off and client training where required.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery processes.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a project management or project coordination role, ideally within an IT, telecoms or structured cabling environment.

• Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing scope, timeline and budget.

• Network Cabling: Practical understanding of copper and fibre cabling installations.

• Camera Installations: Experience with or exposure to IP camera (CCTV) systems, including cabling, NVR/DVR setup and basic camera configuration.

• Client Management: Confident, professional communicator capable of managing client relationships on-site and remotely.

• Documentation: Strong ability to produce clear project plans, site survey reports, risk logs and handover documentation.

• Problem-solving: Methodical approach to identifying and resolving project issues in a fast-paced environment.

Advantageous (Preferred but not Essential)

• Formal project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum).

• Experience working within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment.

• Familiarity with IP surveillance platforms (e.g. Hikvision, Dahua).

• Experience with project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Asana, Monday.com or similar).

• Understanding of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requirements relevant to cabling installations.

Personal Attributes

• Self-motivated and driven — takes ownership of projects and sees them through to completion without close supervision.

• Highly organized, with strong time management and the ability to juggle competing priorities across multiple projects.

• Effective communicator — clear and professional in both written and verbal communication with clients and internal teams.

• Hands-on attitude — willing to get involved in groundwork and on-site activities alongside the technical team.

• Calm under pressure and able to adapt quickly when project conditions change.

• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality in all deliverables.

• Team player who fosters collaboration across technical and operational staff.

• Customer-focused, professional and able to build trusted relationships with clients.

Qualifications

Formal qualifications are not a strict requirement — demonstrable experience and delivery track record will be prioritised over paper credentials. The following are nonetheless welcomed:

• Matric / Grade 12.

• Any relevant qualification or certification in project management and electrical/low-voltage systems.

• PMP, PRINCE2 Foundation/Practitioner or equivalent (advantageous).

• CompTIA Project+ or Network+ (advantageous).

Other Requirements

• Valid South African driver’s licence and own reliable transport — essential for travelling between client sites.

• Based in or able to reliably commute to Gqeberha.

• Willing to undergo a criminal and credit background check.

• Contactable professional references.

• Available for ad hoc overtime, including occasional after-hours or weekend site work.

• Legally entitled to work in South Africa.
